March of this year we arrived in New Zealand! Unfortunately because of the Christchurch earthquake we had to fly straight over to Hokitika where our adventure began starting with the Wild Foods Festival!
This was an excellent time to be in the small town with over 15,000 people from all over New Zealand passing through its gates. The Festival has become an iconic special event celebrating Hokitika and the wild foods of the West Coast.
Imagine this: wasp larvae icecream, cucumber fish, sheep milk cheeses and wok fried clams! Brave enough to try?
Unfortunately we had to leave half way through the main day of the festival to catch our bus to Franz Josef but here are a couple of images that I took of the day:
