Professional Practice: Warm Weaves

Warm Weaves, a hypothetical business created by myself, Mair Jones and Helen Lloyd, was formulated as part of our professional practice module. It enabled us to develop our team skills but also access our individual qualities as designers. The aim was to present a full business proposition and plan to a team of 'dragons'. We chose to catalog our journey and the development of our business at warmweaves.blogspot.com. Here, you will discover the different tasks we assigned to each other and the research we had to obtain in order to propose a successful plan.
Collectively using our skills as designers we decided upon creating a scarf company that was to help the charity Bliss, an organisation that raises money for premature children in the UK. The work was in the same vein as the Red Nose Day T-shirts in 2009 and the necklaces of the Youth Aids Charity. However, we wanted to create a unique set of charity products thus we designed scarves. To help the development of our Warm Weaves business we had a number of lectures that inspired research into different areas, for instance Nicola Wilkes lecture on marketing strategies made us aware that we need to promote our product well.
To discover how the numerous lectures helped my own individual progress, I will break down each lecture in this blog and describe how they inspired certain research to make our business plan a success.
